Warriors Host Indiana Little State Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's wrestling team hosted the Indiana Little State Invitational over the weekend, featuring 12 teams and over 200 wrestlers. The Orange and Black had seven wrestlers earn their way onto the podium of their respective weight classes.
 
Allen Calderon placed third in the 125-weight class with a 4-1 mark as he started his day with a bye before pinning Cumberlands' Tristan Bryant. In the Quarterfinal, Calderon Won 14-5 over Wabash's Andrew Punzalan before dropping the semifinal to Austin Franco. Calderon ended his day with back-to-back wins to claim third with a tech fall over Trevor Hisey and a 9-5 decision over UIndy's Nathan Smith.
 
Elijah Anthony went undefeated and finished first at 133 lbs. His 4-0 performance was highlighted by three tech falls in his opening three matches, surrendering just 4 points in that time. Anthony capped his day with a 9-3 win in the first-place match over Marian's Landon Bertsch.
 
Conner Kimbrough finished third at 141 lbs. with a 4-1 record. Kimbrough started his day with two wins, first 6-2 over Carson Johnson of Indianapolis and via medical forfeit over Marian's Jared Brown. His lone setback came in the semifinal matchup against Marian's Logan Wagner, but he bounced back with a 15-0 tech fall over Lourdes' Dru Wilson.
 
Nate Wheeler won the 157-weight class with an unblemished 5-0 record. His day was highlighted by three tech falls, two of which came in his first two matches. Wheeler pinned Indianapolis' Luke Robards in the quarterfinal match and won 8-0 over Drake Campbell of Marian to cement a spot in the first-place match. Wheeler closed his day with a 15-0 tech fall over Wabash's Tim Smith.
 
Jonathan Kervin finished second at 165 lbs. with a 4-1 mark. Kervin pinned his first two opponents of the day in 3:14 and 4:54. In the quarterfinal, he claimed a 17-2 tech fall over Jesse Herrera of Wabash and won 11-2 over Indianapolis' Owen Zablocki to earn a spot in the first-place match. Kervin came up just short in the final, losing a 4-5 decision to Turner Black of Cumberlands.
 
Leonardo Galasso took third place in the 184-weight class with a 5-1 record. Galasso opened the event with a 22-5 tech fall over Porter Keevers of Indianapolis and followed that with two pins in his next two contests. His lone setback came in the semifinal as he fell to Aidan Petersen of Indianapolis. Galasso closed the day with two wins, a 17-2 tech fall in the consolation semifinal, and a pin in the third-place match.
 
Nathan Critchfield placed second at 197 lbs. with a 3-1 mark. He started the day by pinning Hadyn Ball of Wabash and followed that with a 20-3 tech fall over Trine's Mason Custer. Critchfield earned a spot in the first-place match, pinning Liam Begley of Marian, but slipped up in a closely fought final match, losing 2-1 to Derek Blubaugh of Indianapolis.
 
Tech is back in action on Sunday, December 10, as they travel to Columbia, Kentucky, for the Lindsey Wilson Duals.
