FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Indiana Tech men's tennis team faced Indiana Wesleyan this Friday at Wildwood Racket Club in Fort Wayne and imposed a 6-1 defeat to the opponent.
Â
Warriors' players won every single match, with the only point scored by Indiana Wesleyan in the Doubles. Indiana Wesleyan scored first, winning the doubles point after Alex Serwatka and Lennart Bengtsson beat
Tyler Sinclair and Phil Labbé by 6-2, while Isaac Steiner and Ethan Gray beat
Juan Avellaneda and
Anastasis Lavdas by 6-3. Indiana Tech's double
Michel Zobel and
Kayra Kargin got a 6-0 win over Riley Fuqua and Grant Wayner, but the doubles point was already in Indiana Wesleyan's hands.
Â
In the singles matches, the story was different. Indiana Tech won every duel on the court to complete a comeback on the score and finish the game with a 6-1 win. Zobel, Sinclair, Kargin, Avellaneda,
Andres Pizzamiglio, and
Jorge Rodriguez entered the court to represent the Warriors and won over Steiner, Serwatka, Bengtsson, Gray, Noah Lyons, and Wayner, respectively.
Â
Indiana Tech's coach,
Matt Coomer, appreciated the effort that Indiana Tech players put on the court to get the win: "The guys lost a very tough doubles point but responded well in the singles matches. They stayed focused despite the adversity and took the victory without dropping any singles courts. I am really happy with the men's performance. We couldn't have had a better start to the season. I think we are ready to compete against the best teams in the nation."
