The Indiana Tech Warriors men's volleyball team traveled to Adrian, Michigan, to face the Siena Heights Saints on Friday evening, and came away with a convincing 3-0 victory. The Warriors dominated the match with scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-19, thanks to a balanced attack and solid defense.
Â
Leading the way for the Warriors was
Daynte Stewart, who recorded a match-high 13 kills and added 1 assist. Stewart's aggressive hitting and accurate passing kept the Saints off balance all night, as he consistently found open spots on the court.
Â
Stewart was supported by other players, including
Raekwon Rogers, who matched Stewart with 5 blocks, and
Brandon Jones added 2. The Warriors' blocking was particularly effective in the first two sets, as they frustrated the Saints' hitters and limited their opportunities to score.
Â
In addition to their strong defense, the Warriors also had some impressive serving, with
Jacob Carrico recording 2 aces.
Brandon Jones also led the team in assists, with 27, while
Joey Hermes and
Daynte Stewart each chipped in with a couple of assists as well.
Â
The Warriors' balanced attack was further highlighted by the contributions of
Mason Milan and
Dante Siracusa, who both had 4 kills, and Carrico, Jones, and Hermes, who each had 5 digs. The team's ability to spread the ball around and get everyone involved was key to their success, as the Saints could not key in on any one player.
Â
With the win, the Warriors improved their record to 14-7 overall and 13-1 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. They will look to build on their momentum as they continue their stretch away from home, facing the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on March 18.
