FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Tech men's volleyball finished their home regular season in a thrilling matchup at the Schaefer Center on Friday night. Lourdes University upset Indiana Tech, winning 3-1 in a closely contested battle. Despite a valiant effort from the Warriors, Lourdes' strong team play and impressive individual performances proved too much to handle.
Daynte Stewart led the Warriors with 15 kills, while
Mason Milan added 8, and
Raekwon Rogers chipped in with 5. Indiana Tech served three aces throughout the match.
Jacob Carrico,
Daynte Stewart, and
Mario Capo each recorded a single ace.
On the defensive end,
Raekwon Rogers and
Daynte Stewart both had impressive performances at the net, recording 5.0 blocks each.
Jon Fonda added 3.0 blocks of his own, but it wasn't enough to stop Lourdes' relentless attack.
Brandon Jones led the Warriors' offense with 33 assists, while
Nolan Bosley and
Joey Hermes contributed 4 and 2 assists, respectively. The trio worked hard to keep the Warriors' hitters supplied with opportunities.
In terms of digs,
Joey Hermes led the way with 13, followed by
Jacob Carrico with 9 and
Brandon Jones with 5. However, Lourdes' hitters consistently had an answer for the Warriors' attack, preventing them from mounting a comeback.
Tech now travels to Sylvania, Ohio, for their final regular season game tomorrow, Saturday, March 25, in a winner takes the conference title matchup with the Gray Wolves.
