FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team continued their conference campaign by hosting Madonna University for a four-game series in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Games one and two on Sunday saw the Warriors fall to the Crusaders 4-2 in game one and 15-5 in game two. Tech flipped the script in game one of Monday's double-header as they won 21-6 before an astounding Madonna comeback in game four of the series saw the Crusaders win 13-12. The Orange and Black are now 17-8 and 5-5 in the conference.
Jayden Reed had the hot bat for Tech in game one of the series, going 4-4 at the dish scoring the Warriors only 2 runs.
Brice Stultz went 1 for 4 while knocking in two RBIs.
Jacob Daftari was the only other Warrior to record a hit in game one.
Zach Zaborowski got the start on the mound throwing 5 innings while allowing 4 hits and 4 runs and striking out 6.
In game two,
Trevor Patterson led Tech in hits as he went 2 for 2 at the plate.
Tyler Stahl led the Warriors in RBIs with a single to right field, which saw
Patrick McGinn and
Alex Smith score.
Carson McNulty went 1 for 1 on the day with 1 RBI.
One day can make all the difference, and the Warriors saw that as they went into Monday's doubleheader. The Orange and Black scored in every inning in game three, starting the game hot with 4 runs in the first inning and scored a game-high 7 runs in the fifth. Freshman
Ben Morrison came up big for Tech as he went 2 or 3 with 2 doubles, 5 RBIs, and scored 4 runs.
Christian Mojica and Stahl both went 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBIs.
Luke Myers got the win on the mound throwing 5 innings, allowing 6 hits and 6 runs while striking out 4.
Tech started game four hot, scoring 6 runs in the first inning with
Trevor Patterson hitting a grand slam. The Warriors stretched their lead out to 11-3 before the Crusaders put up 10 runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 13-11 lead over the Warriors.
Jacob Daftari hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to bring it to a 1-run game, but Zachary Beadle shut the door for the Crusaders getting it done on the mound.
