LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – On Monday morning, the Indiana Tech softball program took on the No. 18 Ranked College of Coastal Georgia in the Opening Rounds of the NAIA National Softball Tournament. In a defensive battle, the Warriors came out on top, winning 2-1 in the eighth inning.
Savannah Bravo started game one for the Warriors as she threw a complete game allowing 1 run on six hits and striking out 2 batters. Offensively the Warriors were led by
Meagan Barton and
Jordan Dippel, who both went 2 for 3 at the plate.
Alyssa Fox went 1 for 3 at the dish with 1 RBI as a single through the right side of the infield saw Barton score to record the first run of the game in the fifth inning.
After Coastal Georgia tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning to force the eighth, the Warriors responded in the top of the inning, scoring the winning run.
Maire Trouba opened the inning with a double to left field and advanced to third on an error by first that allowed
Katie O'Drobinak to reach base safely.
Bella Brock and
Jayme Koning had back-to-back walks to load the bases and score the winning run.
Tech will take on the host, No. 8 ranked Georgia Gwinnett College, tomorrow, Tuesday, May 16, at 10:00 AM.
