Warrior Baseball Splits Day One of WHAC Tournament

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference baseball tournament is underway as Tech traveled to Ann Arbor to compete in the three-team pod hosted by conference regular season champions Concordia University. The Warriors kicked off their tournament with an 8-6 win over Lawrence Tech before taking on the host in game two, where the Cardinals came out on top 10-5.
 
In game one of the tournament against Lawrence Tech, Zach Zaborowski started on the mound for the Warriors, throwing 7 innings. In his 7 innings, Zaborowski allowed 6 runs on 8 hits and had 10 strikeouts. Coley Stevens earned the save by pitching 2 innings while allowing 0 hits or runs with 5 strikeouts. Trevor Patterson was the spearhead of the Warrior offense going 3 for 4 at the plate with a 3-run home run in the second inning and scored 2 runs. Jayden Reed had 1 hit in 3 at-bats with 2 RBIs.
 
In game two, the Warrior fell to the hosts with a final score of 10-5. Christian Mojica led the Warrior offense with 2 hits in 4 at-bats scoring two runs and driving in 3 RBIs. Patrick McGinn had a solid day at the plate, going 2 for 2 with 1 RBI. Ryan Troxel started on the bump for the Orange and Black, throwing 6.1 innings while surrendering 10 hits and 7 runs to the Cardinal offense but sitting down 10 batters via strikeouts.
 
Tech continues in the WHAC Tournament Friday morning as they take on Concordia once again, with the game set to start at 11:00 AM.
