Indiana Tech 2023-24 Schedule Release Series: Volume VII – Men’s Wrestling

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's wrestling team has released its schedule for the 2023-24 season.
 
Thomas Pompei enters his ninth year as the head coach of Indiana Tech men's wrestling and enters his 13th year overall with the program. Last season, he helped lead the program to a 17-2 overall record in dual meets, the most wins for the program since the 2014-15 season. Pompei continues to improve on his program record for all time wins in dual meets, now at 84, sitting 40 ahead of former coach Mike Ester. Tech would go 6-0 in WHAC dual meets in 2022-23 to win the inaugural regular season WHAC Championship. The Warriors would then finish first out of the seven teams at the WHAC Tournament to claim their third straight conference tournament title. After being ranked in the top five of the NAIA Top 20 Poll all season, the Warriors would head to the NAIA National Championships, where Tech would finish fifth out of 58 teams for their fifth highest finish in program history. Four Warriors would earn NAIA All-American honors at the meet. Tech also had seven WHAC All-Conference Team members, ten WHAC All-Academic Team members, six NAIA Scholar-Athletes, four WHAC Wrestler of the Week winners, and one NAIA Wrestler of the Week winner. Eric Vermillion was named WHAC Wrestler of the Year, while Coach Pompei was named WHAC Coach of the Year.
 
Tech will start the 2023-24 season with a series of road meets. First, the Warriors will head to the west coast when they take on Menlo in Atherton, California on November 3rd for a dual meet and November 4th for the Menlo Open. Tech will also be in Corbin, Kentucky on November 4th for the Patriot Open before heading to Angola, Indiana on November 11th for the Trine Open, and then to Findlay, Ohio on November 18th for the Findlay Open. Tech will host its first home meet with the Little State Invitational on December 2nd at the Doug Edgar Indoor Track Facility. The Orange & Black will look to defend their WHAC regular season championship when conference play begins on December 16th with a home meet against Cleary University (Mich.) in their final contest before Christmas Break. The NWCA National Duals will take place on January 5th and 6th in Cedar Falls, Iowa to kick off the 2024 side of the campaign. After that, the Warriors will hit the road for a few weeks with three road conference dual meets and two invitational meets. Tech will close out WHAC play with two home meets on February 2nd and 3rd against Lourdes University (Ohio) and Siena Heights University (Michigan) before hitting the road for the Greyhound Open on February 4th to wrap up the regular season. The WHAC Tournament is set for February 10th in Indianapolis, Indiana, while the NAIA National Championships will take place on March 1st and 2nd in Wichita, Kansas.
