Warriors Win 3-1 Over Lawrence Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team hosted Lawrence Tech on Friday evening in the Schaefer Center for a WHAC matchup, in which the Orange and Black displayed a solid outing to win 3-1 (24-26, 27-25, 25-17, 25-17) and remain perfect at 9-0 in conference play.

It was a special night for the Warrior athletic program as it was presented with the Learfield Directors' Cup, which is given to the top-performing athletic program in college athletics (split by division), and the Fred Smith WHAC Commissioner's Cup, which is given to the top-performing athletic program in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference before the contest with Lawrence Tech.

Tech didn't start as they had hoped in front of a historic crowd of 1,000+ tonight as the Blue Devils took the first set 26-24. The Warriors started better in the second set and grabbed an early 4-1 lead, but the Blue Devils weren't going away as a 6-0 run saw the Blue Devils take their first lead of the set. The Warriors would go on a couple of short 3-0 and 4-0 runs to get their lead back, but with a chance to close the door up 24-21, they couldn't capitalize, and the Blue Devils extended the set. With the set knotted at 25, back-to-back kills from Taylor Sorg and Noelle VanOort assured the set win for Tech.

The win in set two gave the Warriors confidence as they started the third on a 12-3 run, which featured kills from Jacqueline Allaway and Taylor Paul, as well as a kill and two services aces from Emma Westra. The early spurt was enough to give the Orange and Black control as they would take the set 25-17, with VanOort recording each of Tech's last four points. Set four was all Warriors, as they never trailed, winning the set 25-17 to claim the match.

Tech improves to 19-2 on the season and hits the road for a mid-week game on Wednesday at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, for their next contest. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m. as Tech looks to move to 10-0 in conference.
