ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team traveled to Adrian, Michigan, on Wednesday evening to take on Siena Heights University, who currently sit third in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Tech was looking to continue their perfect start to the WHAC season, but the Saints had other plans as they took down the Orange and Black in four sets to give Tech their first conference loss.
The Orange and Black kept things close in the first set but were unable to find some critically needed points in the closing points of the set, which allowed the Saints to take the early 1-0 advantage. Set two started close, but with the game tied 9-9, the Warriors ended the set on a 16-7 run with kills from
Emma Westra,
Noelle VanOort,
Taylor Sorg, and
Jacqueline Allaway, as well as four service aces from
Jacey Blust (2) and Westra (2). Set three was similar to the first, with a chance to shut the door up 24-22, the Warriors couldn't capitalize, and the Saints took advantage to fight their way back into the set and eventually take it 28-26. The final set was consistent with the rest of the match. With the score tied 15-15, the Saints went on a 10-3 run to hand Tech their first WHAC loss.
Tech (19-3, 9-1) makes a short one-game stop at home to host the University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. before hitting the road for a three-game road stretch.
