Kervin Highlights Warriors Trip to Missouri Valley Invite

MARSHALL, Mo. – The Indiana Tech men's wrestling team traveled to Marshall, Missouri, over the weekend to compete in the Missouri Valley College Invitational in the Burns Athletic Center. The Warriors had one wrestler finish in the top 8 of their respective weight class, Jonathan Kervin, who took down the No. 14, No. 6 ranked, and the reigning national champion wrestlers in the 165-pound weight class on his way to claim the Invite Champion title.
 
Kervin started his 6-0 day with a pair of pins over Bowen Ward of Waldorf (Iowa) and Joseph Lashuay of Cornerstone. In his third match, he won 20-3 over Oklahoma City's Hayden Brown before starting three straight matches against ranked opponents. In the quarterfinal match, Kervin matched up with No. 14 ranked Hunter Hobbs of Providence (Mont.), winning 5-3 to move on to the semifinal. The Semifinal was against No. 2 ranked and reigning national champion, Rysan Leong from Menlo (Calif.), in which Kervin won 4-3. In the final, he faced Grand View's Justin McCunn, the No. 6 ranked wrestler at 165 lbs., winning 10-3 to earn the title.
 
The Warriors travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for their next contest with Cornerstone University in a WHAC Dual on Friday, January 26th.
