CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Sophomore
Juan Caballero finished in 8th place on Saturday afternoon to highlight an outstanding day of competition for Indiana Tech at the Seminole Valley Challenge in Cedar Rapids. His time of 25:08.9 was a PR by nearly a minute and it moves him up to #4 on the all-time 8K list at Indiana Tech.
Caballero's performance broke Anthony Frank's program record on the Seminole Valley Park course. He's the fastest Warrior over any 8K course since 2018 and he now sits behind just Camron Walter (24:37.8), Cayce Griffin (24:48.0), and Marcus Hobbs (25:07.2) in the record books.
Giulio Romano was second for Indiana Tech in a PR of 25:56.4, while
Ngor Agwick also collected an all-time personal best in 26:11.3. Rounding out the top five for the Warriors were
Kobee Beck (26:21.9) and
Jacob Stetzel (26:56.3).
As a team the Warriors finished 5th in a field of 19, just missing out on the all-time top ten list for combined team time with a mark of 2:10.34.
The freshmen duo of
Sarah Koker and
Skotti Ball-Duley represented Indiana Tech in the women's race. Koker took 33rd in 23:50.8, a full minute faster than she ran three weeks ago in her debut at 6K. She is now #3 on the all-time list for Indiana Tech over six kilometers.
Skotti Ball-Duley also had a huge PR as her 24:27.7 was nearly a minute and a half faster than her last effort.
The Warriors are back in action next week Friday at Taylor University.
