GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. --
Juan Caballero,
McKenna Palmer, and
Sarah Koker earned All-Conference honors to highlight a solid performance by the Indiana Tech cross country teams at the WHAC Championships on Friday in Grand Rapids.
Caballero was named First Team All-Conference with a sixth-place finish in 25:32.1. He led a strong Warrior effort that saw the team finish 3rd, just 19 points back of 2nd place Cornerstone. Their 3rd place finish snapped a string of three consecutive 4th place marks at the league meet and was their highest finish since taking 3rd in 2019.
Giulio Romano was the Warriors' #2 finisher, taking 17th in 26:05.5.Â
Jacob Stetzel was the #3 in 26th at 26:28.1 while Ngor Awick and
Kobee Beck came across the line within a tenth of a second apart, in 28th and 29th.
McKenna Palmer earned a First Team All-Conference nod by taking 7th in 22:43.1. It was the senior's third straight All-Conference honor after a 3rd place finish in 2023 and a 13th place in 2022.
Sarah Koker became Indiana Tech's first freshman All-Conference honoree since 2017. She finished in 13th place in 23:15.6 and will await the national selections next week to see if she has earned a spot in the national meet.
On the women's side, Indiana Tech finished 4th as a team with 119 points. The top five was rounded out by
Skotti Ball-Duley in 29th (24:17.4),
Karla Julian in 42nd (25:29.1), and
Anyssa Heinold in 64th (26:45.7).
Andrew Mercier and
Anyssa Heinold would represent Indiana Tech on the WHAC Champions of Character Teams, while eleven Warriors would make the WHAC All-Academic Teams.
While Koker awaits her national meet fate, Caballero and Palmer will represent Indiana Tech at the NCAA Championships on November 22nd in Columbia, Missouri.
