GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. --
Juan Caballero continued his torrid pace and
McKenna Palmer dipped under 19:00 in the 5K to lead Indiana Tech on a solid day at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday in Grand Rapids.
In an extremely fast race that saw 30 runners at 25:00 or faster,
Juan Caballero was the Warriors' top runner on the men's side for the third time in as many races. His time of 25:09.7 over the 8K course left him under a second off the school record on the Riverside Park course (25:09.0, set by Camron Walter in 2008). Â
Giuliano Romano (26:05.8) and
Ngor Agwick (26:06.0) were 2nd and 3rd for Indiana Tech on Saturday.Â
Jacob Stetzel came in next with a 31-second PR in 26:25. Â
Dylan Banda ran a 25-second PR in 26:27.8.Â
Javin Mericle (26:35.2) scored a 38-second PR and
Will Mickelson, racing in the white division race, ran over 2:30 faster than his previous 8K, finishing in 26:49.
Highlighting the women's efforts, despite not racing in nearly six weeks,
McKenna Palmer was just seconds off her PR in the 5K at 18:56.6. Â
Sarah Koker (19:42.5) and
Skotti Ball-Duley (19:50.6) continued their impressive freshmen campaigns with sub-20:00 performances.
The Warriors return to action in two weeks at the WHAC Championships, back at Riverside Park.
