FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team returned to the court on Saturday afternoon as they traveled across town to take on the University of Saint Francis Cougars. The Cougars came out on top 85-64 in the cross-town battle.
There was little to separate the two squads through the opening ten minutes, with the Cougars holding a narrow margin. Down the stretch, the Cougars saw that margin increase as they knocked down a few threes and got to the free-throw line, resulting in a 43-30 lead for the hosts headed into the midway break. The hosts maintained control of the game through the second half, leading the whole half to an 85-64 win. The difference between the two sides was from beyond the three-point line and at the charity stripe. Tech hit 6 of their 25 attempts from beyond the three-point line, while the hosts rattled in 10 of their 28 attempts. At the free throw line, the Cougars outscored the Warriors 23-10.
Dallas Roberts led the Warriors in scoring with 22 points off the bench and was the only Warrior in double figures.
Crew Gibson added nine points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Blake Davison and
Caleb Lehrman led the team with six rebounds apiece, adding eight and two points, respectively.
The Warriors move to 1-3 to start the season and prepare for Lawrence Tech in their next contest to start conference play on November 20 at 8:00 p.m. in the Schaefer Center.
