GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team took on Aquinas College in the WHAC Tournament final, their third straight, on Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, where the Warriors fell to the hosts 3-0.
The Saints came out quickly in the first set, rallying to a 13-3 lead. Later, kills from
Noelle VanOort and
Hannah Teich helped the Warriors rattle off six straight points, cutting the Saints lead to three. That was the closest the Warriors would get, though, as the hosts took the opener 25-15. The second set was even through the opening stages, but with the score level at 15 apiece, the hosts would go on a 6-0 run that would put the set out of reach, going on to win 25-18. The hosts quickly go out of the blocks in the third set, racing to an 8-3 lead. From there, the Saints were reluctant to give the Warriors any glimpse of a way back into the set, so they took the set 25-20 and sealed the victory.
Noelle VanOort led the Warriors in kills and digs with nine and sixteen, respectively.
Kassidy Boener had a team-high two aces.
Taylor Sorg added three blocks, and
Isabella Assaley posted 24 assists.
With the Saints also winning the conference regular season title, the Warriors will receive the conference's second automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament as they were the conference tournament runners-up. The Warriors will find out their postseason destination on Monday, November 18, at 12:00 p.m. CT with the NAIA Selection Show.
