Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #7 ranked Indiana Tech Warriors Women's hockey team split a two-game series with the #8 ranked University of Michigan this past Thursday and Friday. Tech would lose 3-2 on Thursday night on the road and came back strong with a big 5-1 win at home on Friday night. This moves their overall record to 11-4-1.
In game one, Indiana Tech took an early lead at 2:38, with
Dakota Bowler netting her 8th goal of the season, assisted by
Allison Greene and
Payton Gilmour. They extended their advantage at 7:31, with
Hailey Anderson scoring her 4th goal of the year, set up by Bowler and
Mikayla Kalverda. The Warriors entered the first intermission with a solid 2-0 lead, but the University of Michigan came back in the second period scoring two goals to tie the game 2-2. In the third period, Michigan completed their comeback and scored their third goal ending the game with a 3-2 loss for the Warriors. Goaltender
Ashtyn Berthiaume played a total of 59 minutes and 45 seconds and saved a total of 39 shots.
In game two, Indiana Tech opened the scoring early at 2:24, with
Allison Greene scoring off a setup from
Dakota Bowler. Michigan responded at 11:42 on a power-play goal, however Indiana Tech regained momentum quickly. At 13:34, Greene struck again, her 6th goal of the season, with assists from
Lauren Younker and
Hailey Terpstra. Just over a minute later, freshman
Solange Basque scored her first goal of the season, assisted by
Mikayla Kalverda and
Arina Jusczak, giving Indiana Tech a commanding early 3-1 lead by the end of the period. In the second period Indiana Tech extended their lead at 6:01 as
Arina Jusczak scored assisted by
Jaiden Rogers, putting the Warriors in control with a 4-1 advantage. The Warriors added one final goal early in the third period. At 1:42,
Dakota Bowler scored her 9th goal of the season, assisted by
Ashley Episcopo and
Allison Greene making the final score a 5-1 victory for the Warriors. Goaltender
Izzy Varner played a total of 60 minutes in goal and saved a total of 19 out of 20 shots.
The Warriors are back in action after Thanksgiving break as they play a two-game home series against Penn State University, both at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse on Friday, December 6
th at 4pm and Saturday, December 7
th at 3:10 pm.
