Women’s Soccer Bows Out of WHAC Tournament in Quarterfinal Round

LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team took the hour trip east for a WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal match against the No. 24 ranked University of Northwestern Ohio Racers on Wednesday afternoon.

Tech would be the seven seed coming into the game, taking on the two seed UNOH and would come out of the gates strong, holding their own over the first 15 minutes of the match. However, a perfectly executed counterattack by the Racers would result in a 1-0 deficit for the Warriors. The Racers would manage to find the back of the net again in the closing minutes of the half to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

The second half would be mainly controlled by UNOH, but the Warriors would register a few chances to try to get back into the game with two shots coming from senior Kendall Scribner. However, the Racers defense would be too strong for the Warriors to break down as they posted their 13th clean sheet of the season. UNOH would score the final blow in the 71st minute to make it 3-0 and put the game out of reach. Sara Cogoli would play well in goal for Tech, despite the three goals allowed and would get some great help from defender Olivia Sherman who made multiple defensive stops throughout the game to deny the Racers. Cogoli would finish the game with six saves over 77:40 minutes of action, while Ursula Romero would play the final 12:20 of the game, not allowing a goal.

The Warriors season comes to a close in the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal round as it has in four of the past five seasons. Tech finishes with an overall record of 6-10-3.
