ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Wednesday evening to compete against the Cardinals of Concordia University. The Orange and Black took care of business on the road, winning in a 3-0 sweep. Highlighting the night was setter
Sara Gomperts, who entered the game with 975 assists in the season and 986 in her career. After posting a 41-assist match, Gomperts surpassed the 1,000 career assists mark and currently sits at 1,016 on the season.
The Warriors came out firing in the first set with a dominant .405 attacking percentage, putting down 20 of their 42 attempts in a set they led from start to finish, winning 25-14. Set two was closer through the opening stage, but a 3-0 run featuring kills from
Noelle VanOort and
Amelia Schultz gave the Warriors enough of a lead to maintain it for the rest of the set, going on to win 25-17. The third set played out similarly to the second, with the two sides even through the 5-5 mark, but another 3-0, this time sparked by
Taylor Sorg, would put the Orange and Black up for good on their way to a 25-16 win to seal the match.
The Warriors' attack was a force on three fronts, with
Noelle VanOort,
Taylor Sorg, and
Hannah Teich all posting 10 kills.
Kassidy Boener led the Orange and Black with 2 aces and 20 digs. Teich was also present at the net with 3 blocks, while
Sara Gomperts added 41 assists.
The Warriors now sit at 24-9 on the season and 15-2 in conference play. Tech wraps up the regular season on Friday, November 8, with a trip to Lima, Ohio, to face off with the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers starting at 7:00 p.m.
