Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Warriors Roll Past Racers 3-1 in Lima

LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team wrapped up their regular season on Friday evening with a trip east to Lima, Ohio, for a showdown with the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers. Duplicating their effort from the first meeting this season, the Warriors got the same result: a 3-1 win.

The Warriors found themselves in a battle early, with little separation between the two sides in the first set. Matching each other seemingly step for step, the Warriors finally put together a run while trailing 18-20, outscoring the Racers 7-1 to close the set with a 25-21 victory. In the second set, the hosts held the lead through the early going and could stretch it to 22-15 late in the set. However, the Warriors refused to go down easily, taking advantage of some Racer miscues to go on a 6-0 run and cut the lead to one. Despite the outburst of points, the Warriors' comeback effort was too late as the Racers took set two 25-22. Sets three and four were similar to the first two in that there was little either side could muster to create some sustainable separation. However, when the set was on the line, it was the Orange and Black who were able to step up and put the finishing points down, winning set three 25-21 and four 25-22.

Noelle VanOort led the Warriors' attack with 17 kills while combining with Hanna Teich above the net with 3 blocks each. Teich also led the Orange and Black with 4 aces. Sara Gomperts added 48 assists to her season tally, and Kassidy Boener held down the back row with 14 digs.

With the expansion of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, the WHAC Tournament features ten teams this year, with the No. 7 through No. 10 seeds playing in a play-in game on Monday. The Warriors will host the winner of the No. 7 Madonna vs. No. 10 Defiance game on Wednesday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m.
