FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's hockey team fell 5-1 to No. 2 Adrian College in a tune up game before the national tournament, which is set to start in less than two weeks on March 7
th. The Warriors battled hard through two periods in the top 20 matchup, but ultimately fell short when Adrian pulled away late.
Adrian would score first in the game just under six minutes in, but the Warriors would answer just a few minutes later as
Connor Funke found the back of the net, assisted by
Pavel Svoboda. The Bulldogs would add a second goal in the period, on the powerplay putting them up 2-1 heading into the second period. The score would remain a one goal game after no goals were allowed in the second. However, Adrian would take control in the third period, scoring two goals in 34 seconds to push their lead to three. The Bulldogs would add another goal late, finishing off the Warriors 5-1.
Braedyn Funke played well for the Warriors in goal, making 50 saves in the loss!
With some of their players already resting in this game, the Orange & Black will look to take some much needed time off over the next 13 days, to get everyone healthy heading into the national championship tournament. The Warriors go into the tournament as the No. 18 overall seed and get a first round matchup with No. 15 Calvin University on March 7
th at 5:15pm. If the Warriors can take down the Knights of Calvin, they will get a rematch with No. 2 Adrian in the round of sixteen on March 8
th. The National Championships will take place in St. Louis, Missouri from March 7
th-12
th.
