FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball hosted the Saint of Aquinas College in the Schaefer Center on Saturday afternoon, winning 96-78 to complete the season sweep of the Saints. The Warriors' first win over Aquinas was a 66-54 decision in December.
Today's win stretches the Warriors' win streak over the Saints to 15, dating back to December 2017.
Despite
Brady Titus claiming the first points of the frame with a triple, the Warriors got off to a slow start, playing catch-up after the Saints' 12-3 run in the opening 5 minutes. Once Tech found their feet, the response was quick, answering with a 10-0 run in just over a minute to take their first lead of the game 13-12. After a Saints lay in to end the scoreless run,
Lucas Lyyski found some room in the paint to put Tech up for good.
With 6:25 left in the opening 20,
Javel Lewis gave the Warriors their first double-digit lead of the game from the charity stripe. Albert's crew kept the offensive efficiency high down the stretch as they extended their lead to 46-34 at the half.
Tech maintained their lead to start the second half, answering every time Aquinas posed a threat. In the closing 10 minutes, the Warriors' double-digit lead was trimmed to single-digits, but a good response from the team saw the lead swell to 22 before settling in for a 96-78 win.
Tech had five players score 15 or more points.
Max Perez led the bunch with 17, while
Brady Titus,
Lucas Lyyski,
Javel Lewis, and
Dallas Roberts all contributed 15. Lewis led the Warriors in rebounding with 7, and Lyyski led the team with 2 blocks.
Tech improves to 14-8 overall and 12-4 in conference play. The Warriors travel to Southfield, Michigan, for their next contest on Wednesday evening. Tip-off against Lawrence Tech is scheduled for 7:30 in the Don Ridler Field House.
