STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's bowling team came up just short, finishing second at the 2023-24 NAIA National Championships this past weekend in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
The Warriors finished fourth in the qualifying round with a score of 4,843 to earn the fourth seed for the double-elimination bracket portion of the tournament. In their first match, the Orange and Black took on the University of Pikeville, winning 4-0. Continuing in the winner's bracket, the Warriors face WHAC foe and No. 1 seed Lawrence Tech in their next match, claiming the close contest 4-3 to advance to the semifinal. In the semifinal match, the Warriors faced SCAD-Savannah, winning their third straight match, 4-3. In Saturday's championship, one win short of the title, the Warriors, once again, faced SCAD-Savannah, narrowly losing 3.5-4.5. Because the bracket is double-elimination, the Warriors had to face SCAD-Savannah again in a winner-takes-all match, in which Tech fell 1-4 to finish second in the tournament.
Next up for the Warriors is the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, on April 17-20.
