Tarris Named Newcomer of the Year as WHAC Releases Bowling All-Conference Honors

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference released the 2025-26 men's and women's bowling conference awards on Friday afternoon as Indiana Tech had 20 Warriors recognized across broth programs, including the Newcomer of the Year on the men's side and grabbing both Coach of the Year awards.

Freshman Hayden Tarris was named the Men's Bowling Newcomer of the Year and also made the WHAC First Team All-Conference. Joining Tarris on the first team was sophomore Tuna Boncu. Junior Leah Brazier would be named to the WHAC Second Team All-Conference on the women's side.

Over four matches, Tarris played ten games for the Warriors, totaling 2,097 pins to average 209.7 per game. Boncu would total 2,520 pins, averaging 210.0 per game, bowling in all 12 games for Tech. Boncu and Tarris had the fourth and fifth best averages in the conference this season, earning them spots on the first team. Brazier had the ninth best average on the women's side with 182.9 per game to get her on the second team all-conference. She would total 1,829 pins over ten games and four matches for the Warriors.

Head Coach Tyler DeJonge was named WHAC Coach of the Year on the men's side, while Doug Cutler was named WHAC Coach of the Year on the women's side. They would lead both Warrior squads to WHAC Regular Season Championships this season.

Nolan Blessing and Meagan Kennedy would represent Indiana Tech on the Champion of Character Teams, which is comprised of one player from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Indiana Tech also had 16 Warriors named to the All-Academic Team, which consists of sophomores or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA or better who have attended their school for one full year. Representing the Warriors was Tuna Boncu, Dylan Bulusan, Kayla Cameron, Jayden Combs, Aiden Hoyte, Elizabeth Jones, Ashton Kiessling, Cameron Kilgore, Alan McCoy, Seth Mullins, Kameron Ruiz, Owen Ryan, Natalie Schildhouse, Carson Shroyer, Bryce Thomas, and Jillian Treska.
