FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 10 ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team hosted the Ottawa University Braves in a home game at Warrior Athletic Field on Wednesday evening where they would overcome a slow start to ultimately prevail by the end of the contest.
The Braves would get off to a 5-1 lead by the end of the first quarter with
Da'zah Regusters scoring the Tech goal from
Michelle Farrell in a man up opportunity. The Warriors would make a change in net to start the second quarter, bringing in junior
Kat Hoff in relief of
Sydney Oberdorfer, who would finish her day with three saves on eight shots. Hoff would play stellar upon coming in, allowing the Warriors to get back into the game.
Faith Donally,
Brooke Buhr (2), and
Noelle Ricci would all score in the second quarter as Tech would start to get the offense going, heading into the halftime break down 5-8. The Warriors would dominate in the second half. Regusters and Farrell would score to open the third quarter, but Ottawa would respond with two goals to keep the lead at three. However, after that goal, Tech would close out the game on an 11-1 run over the final 18 minutes of play taking total control in the game. The Orange & Black poured it on in the fourth as the Braves had no answer as Tech comes away with a 18-11 win after a huge second half rally. Farrell (2 goals, 6 assists), Regusters (6 goals), and Buhr (5 goals, 1 assist) would lead the way offensively as they would finish the game with eight, six, and six points respectively. Regusters would also lead the Warriors with five ground balls and 11 draw controls, while
Jade Hamilton and Donally would each finish the game with three caused turnovers. Hoff would finish the game with ten saves on 16 shots over three quarters of action in goal, picking up her second win of the season.
The Warriors move to 3-1 overall on the season and will head down to Williamsburg, Kentucky on Sunday, March 10
th when they visit No. 3 University of the Cumberlands at 1pm.
