FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team played back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday against the Saint Mary of the Woods College Pomeroys, winning both games in straight sets.
On Friday night, the Warriors would take set one 25-18 in a back-and-forth game that was tight until the end when Tech would go on a 6-1 run to close it out. The Warriors would pick up right where they left off scoring the first four points of set two. The Warriors would continue to build on their lead throughout the set, getting to a seven-point advantage at 19-12. The Pomeroys would attempt a comeback cutting the lead to four at 21-17, but Tech would score the next four points to take a 2-0 lead in the game. In set three, the Warriors would again build a comfortable lead from the jump and never look back, taking it 25-12 to sweep the Pomeroys in straight sets.
Daynte Stewart would lead the Warriors in kills with 12, followed by
Mason Milan with eight.
Armaan Dosanjh would pick up 29 assists, seven digs, and two aces for Tech. On the defensive side
Alex Rosenow would record eight digs to lead the Orange & Black, while
Raekwon Rogers and
Jon Fonda would post two blocks each.
On Saturday, the Warriors would again sweep the Pomeroys in straight sets. After initially trailing 3-8, the Warriors would use a seven-point run to take the lead at 10-8. Tech outscore the Pomeroys 15-8 the rest of the way taking the first set of the game 25-16. Tech would take set two by the same 25-16 score as set one. With the game close at 20-15, the Warriors would score the final five points to take the set. The third set of the game was the most competitive of the six over the weekend. Saint Mary of the Woods would get out to a 5-0 lead and lead most of the set. The Warriors would claw back over the course of the set using a 4-0 run to take their first lead at 18-17. Both sides would trade points down the stretch but the Warriors would ultimately prevail 27-25.
Mario Capo would lead the Orange & Black with 15 kills, while also posting seven digs.
Brandon Jones would pick up 17 assists and
Armaan Dosanjh would have 14.
Albert Garbacik would post three blocks in the match, while
Kaden Baltimore would record ten digs.
Ben Rosenow would score the only two aces in the match for the Warriors.
With the pair of victories, the Warriors move to 15-1 overall on the season and 6-1 in WHAC play. Tech will be back in action on Tuesday, March 12
th when they host Bethel University (Ind.) in the Schaefer Center at 7pm.
