GOSHEN, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team downed the Goshen Maple Leafs in five sets on their trip north Tuesday evening. The win puts Tech at 22-5 this season with a 13-4 record within the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
The first set was all Warriors as they jumped to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back. The Maple Leafs cut the lead to two points at the 12-10 mark, but Tech responded with a 5-0 run to widen the margin to seven. Again, the hosts cut into the lead, but the Orange and Black had another 5-0 response to put the set out of reach, as they went on to claim it 25-19. Set two played out similarly to the first as an early 6-0 run from Tech created a gap between the two sides that Goshen couldn't overcome as the Warriors took set two 25-15. The script was flipped in the third set, as the Maple Leafs were the ones who took an early lead after a 5-0 run and battled off any comeback attempt the Warriors made to win the set 25-17. The fourth set was full of ties and lead changes through the early going, but a 4-0 run in favor of the hosts established the first gap between the squads. From there, the Maple Leafs maintained control of the set, winning 25-21. Tech came roaring back in the fifth set, going on an 8-1 run to start. The lead established was too much for the hosts to overcome as Tech took the fifth set 15-6 to claim the match.
Daynte Stewart led the Warrior's attack with 21 kills, followed by
Mason Milan with eighteen. Stewart also added two aces, while
Armaan Dosanjh and
Clayton Wheatley chipped in one apiece. Dosanjh led the side with seven blocks, while
Raekwon Rogers and
Peter Demoulin contributed six. Dosanjh posted 40 assists, and Milan led the side with ten digs.
The Warriors take a short break from conference play in their next match as they host Warner University (Fla.) on Friday, starting at 7:00 p.m.
