FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After finishing the regular season this past Saturday, the Indiana Tech men's volleyball team began their postseason by hosting the Siena Heights Saints for the WHAC Tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday evening. Tech matched up with the Saints just eleven days ago, where the Warriors completed the 3-0 sweep. In search of a similar result, the Warriors came out and took care of business with another 3-0 sweep of the Saints.
The opening set was evenly matched through the early stages of the contest. With the score locked at twelve, the Warriors took advantage of a service error from the Saints to spur on a short 3-0 run to establish a little distance from the visitors. The Saints kept the score close, but Tech never let go of their lead through the remainder of the set, winning 25-20. The second set was all Tech as they opened it on a 19-4 run, during which the Saints could not score two consecutive points. The Warriors took that set 25-11.
The visitors took control of the third set, holding the early lead. While trailing 9-16, the Orange and Black fought back into the set, as
Dylan Poore sparked an 8-2 run to cut the Saint's lead to one. The visitors continued to hold a narrow lead, but a 4-0 run from the Warriors finally saw them take a 23-22 lead. Up 24-23, the Warriors needed one point, but the Saints refused to go down easily as they scored two straight points to retake the lead and flip the script on Tech. After a service error leveled the game at 25 and an attack error gave the Warriors the lead 26-25,
Raekwon Rogers and
Mason Milan sent back a hit from the Saints to seal the set 27-25 and claim the match.
Daynte Stewart led the Warriors with ten kills.
Mason Milan and Clayton Wheatly added four aces apiece.
Raekwon Rogers led the side with three blocks.
Armaan Dosanjh posted 27 assists, while Milan and
Mario Capo led the team with six digs.
The Warriors will travel to Sylvania, Ohio, for the WHAC Tournament semifinal hosted by Lourdes University, where they will go head-to-head with the second-seeded Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University. The first serve in semifinal No. 1 is set for 4:00 p.m.
