FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 9 ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team kicked off their postseason with a WHAC Tournament semifinal game against the No. 7 ranked Aquinas College Saints on Thursday evening. The Warriors defeated Aquinas just five days prior 16-13 at home on senior day to clinch the No. 2 seed in the WHAC and earn a by through the first round of the WHAC Tournament. Aquinas, the No. 3 seed, defeated No. 6 seed Siena Heights University 10-9 in the WHAC Tournament first round on Tuesday and made the trip back to Fort Wayne on Thursday for the semifinal against the Warriors.
The Warriors would dominate the semifinal game. Tech would get out to a 2-0 lead, scoring just 1:23 apart early in the first with
Nate Langille picking up a goal and assist. Aquinas would get one before the end of the quarter to make it 2-1 Tech after one. In the second quarter, Tech would outscore Aquinas 3-1 on their way to a 5-2 halftime lead. The second half was all Indiana Tech as the Warriors would shutout the Saints for the final 34 minutes of the game. The Warriors would add three goals in both the third and fourth quarters on their way to an 11-2 victory. Langille would lead the Orange & Black with five points (3 G, 2 A), while
Devin Macomber would finish with a hattrick of goals.
Khiusttin Corpas (1 point),
Cooper Musseman,
Samuel Bodley (4 points), and
Kyle TwoBulls would lead the Warriors in ground balls with four each, while Corpas, Musseman, and
Zach Spisz would lead Tech with three caused turnovers.
Kyle TwoBulls would make 12 saves in net for the Warriors, picking up win number eight on the season.
The Warriors move to 8-6 overall on the season and will now move on to the WHAC Tournament Championship game against No. 6 Concordia University. Tech will be on the road when they take on the No. 1 seed and WHAC Regular Season Champions on Saturday, April 27
th at 1pm in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
