FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team welcomed the Siena Heights University Saints for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) matchup on Friday evening in the Schaefer Center. Tech took care of business, downing the Saints in three sets, 3-0.
It took the Warriors a few points to find their footing, as the Saints scored three straight points. The Saints held onto that lead until Tech finally got their first taste of a lead, 16-15. Once the Orange and Black took the lead, they refused to relinquish it, winning 25-20 without trailing after that point. The second set started similarly to the first, as the Saints took an early lead. This time, however, the Warriors saw their first advantage at the 6-5 mark. Trading points and the lead through the remainder of the set, neither team could get an advantage, but eventually, Tech prevailed as
Raekwon Rogers closed the door on set two with a kill to claim it 25-23. After battling in the first two sets, Tech got off to a better start as
Daynte Stewart served them to a 4-1 lead. After the Saints answered with a couple of points, Tech rattled off five straight points to extend their lead and take control of the set. Later, a 7-0 run, including four service aces from
Jacob Carrico, swelled the Warriors lead to 18-6. After growing such a lead, the Saints could do little to recover, as the Warriors took the third set 25-12 to complete the sweep.
Daynte Stewart was the leading attacker for the Warriors with thirteen kills.
Jacob Carrico accounted for seven of the Warrior's eleven aces.
Armaan Dosanjh distributed 29 assists to lead the team. Defensively,
Peter Demoulin led the squad with five blocks, while Dosanjh had a team-high six digs.
