ADRIAN, Mich. – Due to weather, the Warriors contest with the Aquinas College Saints in the Ann Arbor Pod Championship was moved to Siena Heights in Adrian, Michigan, on Friday morning. The location change didn't faze the Orange and Black, though, as they took care of business, downing the Saints 9-7.
Tech's offense spilled over from their performance against the Cardinals on Thursday, as the Warriors kicked off their quarrel with the Saints, scoring three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. The Warriors' lead was short-lived, though, as the Saints leveled the game with three runs in the second. Tech continued to put up runs, however, scoring two more in their half of the second, retaking the lead. The Orange and Black added some insurance in the fourth inning with four runs to take a 9-3 lead. The Saints rallied for three runs in the sixth, cutting into Tech's lead. Adding one more run in the ninth, the Saints cut the lead to two, but the comeback effort came up short as Tech shut the door to advance to the WHAC Tournament Final Series.
Kade Robinson got the win on the bump for Tech, throwing 4.2 innings, in which he allowed six hits and four runs and struck out four.
Ryan Uhlenhake was credited with the save.
Patrick McGinn and
Jack Ferguson led the Warriors in hits, going three for five and three for four, respectively.
Tyler Stahl led the Warriors with four RBIs on two hits in four at-bats.
The Warriors await the winner of UNOH and Madonna in the WHAC Tournament Final, a best-of-three series on Monday and Tuesday, May 6-7.
