Women's Volleyball Goes 2-2 at OnSet Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The women's volleyball team continued their season in the OnSet tournament hosted by Saint Francis in Fort Wayne. On Friday, the Orange and Black played in two games, facing Taylor University and RV Indiana University East. Tech would round out the competition on Saturday with games against West Virginia Tech and Oakland City University.
 
In the tournament opener against Taylor, the Warriors fell 1-3 to the Trojans after winning the first set 25-15; they dropped the next three 25-23, 27-25, 25-22. Noelle VanOort led the team with 21 kills in the match while Sara Gomperts and Madison Mayes led the side with 37 assists and 24 digs, respectively. Game two left Tech still searching for their first win of the season as IU East took three straight sets, 25-22, 25-13, 25-23. VanOort and Lauren Snyder led the side in kills with 7 while Mayes had 10 digs, and Isabella Assaley posted 16 assists.
 
On Saturday, the Warriors got things started with their first win of the season, taking down West Virginia University Institute of Technology in three straight sets, 25-23-25-12, 25-15. Lauren Snyder led the side with 11. Gomperts contributed 23 assists, while VanOort and Mayes both added 13 digs. The momentum from game one spilled over into their second game of the day against Oakland City University as the Warriors once again swept the match in three straight sets, 25-13, 25-9, 25-14. VanOort and Amelia Schultz led the Orange and Black offense with 7 kills apiece. Gomperts and Mayes led the side with 17 and 11 assists and digs, respectively.
 
The Warriors move to 2-6 on the season and now prepare for their first conference game against Defiance College on Wednesday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m.
