FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After a five-game road stretch, the Indiana Tech women's soccer team returned home to start their conference season by hosting the No. 4 ranked Aquinas College Saints on Saturday afternoon at the Warrior Athletic Field.
It was business as usual for the visitors as they showed why they are ranked No. 4 by finding the back of the net four times in the opening 45. The Saint's defense was up to the test in the opening half as well, allowing the Warriors just one chance toward goal.
Out of the break, the Saints continued to press into their attacking half, but the Warrior's defense stood tall, keeping the Saints off the scoreboard in the early stages of the second half. The Warriors drew one back in the 71
st minute as
Addie Nellis found the net off an assist from
Aubrey Young. The guests quickly responded with a goal three minutes later, which restarted their offense and added two more to their tally in the final ten minutes.
Sara Cogoli played all ninety minutes in goal for the Warriors, recording twelve saves.
The Warriors move to 1-5-1 on the season and start conference play at 0-1-0. Tech is back in action on Wednesday as they host Defiance College at 6:00 p.m.
