FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team returned to action on Wednesday evening as they hosted Siena Heights University in a conference matchup. The two sides entered the match level in conference play at 4-1 each, but the Warriors showed up big, taking the match in three straight sets.
Right out of the gate, both sides were locked in, but a 7-2 run by Tech, started by a kill from
Noelle VanOort when the game was tied 10-10 gave the Orange and Black their first control of the set. Despite the five-point deficit, the Saints refused to go down without a fight, bringing the set back to within one point at the 20-21 mark, but the comeback effort ultimately came up short as the hosts took the opener 25-22. Again, there was little to separate the schools in the early stages of the second set. With the Saints holding a narrow 15-14 lead, kills from
Katie Gostovich,
Noelle VanOort, and
Taylor Sorg on a 5-0 run pushed the Warriors in front to a four-point lead. The Saints picked up two more points in the set, but the momentum gained from the run led Tech to a 25-17 second-set win. The third set was all Tech as they took an early lead and never looked back, sprinting to a 25-15 victory in the third set to take the match.
Noelle VanOort led the Warriors' attack with eighteen kills.
Paige Redder posted four aces, while
Taylor Sorg added four blocks.
Sara Gomperts contributed 34 assists and a team-high twelve digs.
Tech now sits at 11-7 on the season and 5-1 in conference play. They prepare for Lourdes in the next match on Saturday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Schaefer Center.
