FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #13 ranked Indiana Tech Men's hockey team split a weekend series this past weekend with #10 ranked Maryville University losing 1-2 on Friday night and winning 3-1 on Saturday night. This moves their overall record to 21-3-0 on the season.
In game one, Maryville opened the scoring in the second period then later added another goal to make it 2-0. The Warriors fought back in the third, with
Ryan Doucette scoring off
Malik Ali's assist, but Maryville's defense held strong, leaving the Warriors with a close 1-2 loss. Goaltender
Gage Reimer played a total of 58 minutes and 40 seconds, saving 26 shots.
In game two,
Pavel Svoboda put the Warriors ahead early at 4:50 of the first, assisted by
Isaiah Gagerman.
Ryan Doucette extended the lead to 2-0 at 1:42 of the second, with help from
Alex Arnold and
Michael Dalaly. Maryville responded at 10:49 of the second, making it 2-1, however Doucette sealed the 3-1 win for the Warriors with the dagger at 18:53 of the third, capping off a three-goal series for the freshman from Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Luke Anderson and Gagerman would pick up assists on the goal. Goaltender
Gage Reimer played all 60 minutes, saving a total of 34 shots, helping the team to the victory.
The Warriors are back in action next weekend for another two-game series against Concordia University. They will play on the road Friday night in Canton, Michigan on January 31st, and then at home on February 1st at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne at 2pm as part of their double header with the Fort Wayne Komets.
