CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – The #7 ranked Indiana Tech Women's hockey team travelled to Chesterfield, Missouri this past weekend to play a two-game road series with #3 ranked Maryville University. The Warriors would tie their first game 1-1 on Friday night and lose on Saturday 1-3, moving their overall record to 15-6-2 this season.
In game one, the first two periods were scoreless, but Indiana Tech broke the ice at 5:22 of the third period, as
Dakota Bowler scored her 13th goal of the season in her 100th career game, unassisted. Maryville responded on the power play at 10:29 in the third to tie it up at one with under ten minutes left to play. Neither team could bury one during the remainder of the period or in overtime, leading to a tie game. Goaltender
Izzy Varner played a total of 65 minutes in net, saving 39 shots.
In game two, the scoring opened late in the first, as Maryville took the 1-0 lead. Indiana Tech tied it at 14:03 of the second, as
Dakota Bowler scored off feeds from
Megan Yakiwchuk and
Halle Murray. Maryville took the lead in the third scoring at 2:43, and not long after scoring again to ice the game and take the victory over the Warriors. Goaltender
Ashtyn Berthiaume played a total of 60 minutes in goal, saving 36 shots.
The Warriors are back in action this week for an important two-game conference series against #2 ranked Adrian College on Thursday, January 30th in Adrian, Michigan and Friday, January 31st at 7pm in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
