GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Friday evening for the WHAC Tournament semifinal matchup with Cornerstone University, hosted by Aquinas College. After a tough battle, the Warriors' season would come to an end as they fell 1-3, 16-25, 18-25, 25-23, 17-25.
The two sides would start the first set level, with the score knotted 10-10. The remainder of the set would favor Cornerstone, as the Golden Eagles closed with a 15-6 run, taking the set 25-16. The second set played out similarly to the first, as the two teams would match each other through the opening stages. The momentum shift from that point on was towards the Golden Eagles as a 7-2 run would give them a five-point advantage. Tech would battle but was unable to overcome the deficit, falling in the second 18-25. The Warriors got off to a fast start in the third set, opening with four straight points and leading 10-6 early. Cornerstone would battle back into the set, taking a 19-18 lead, but with the score level at 23, the Warriors would tally back-to-back points to take the set. In the fourth set, the Golden Eagles took control early in the set and didn't look back as they would go on to win 25-17.
Lauren Paska led the Warriors with nine kills in the match.
Emiline Wood and
Isabella Assaley each tallied two aces, while Wood also led the side with 10 digs.
Hannah Teich led the side with five blocks. Kirstin Matlack dished out 24 assists.
The Warriors finish the season with a 22-12 record overall and finished third in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings with a 14-6 record.
