TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Indiana Tech Cross Country teams sent six individuals down to Florida for the NAIA National Championship Meet on Friday morning.
Bronwyn Nel would finish 22
nd overall, becoming the fifth All-American women's cross country runner in program history. Nel and
Sarah Koker would represent the Warrior women at the meet, while
Giulio Romano,
Juan Caballero,
Ayub Sayid, and
Kobee Beck would represent the men.
Bronwyn Nel wrapped up a very impressive freshman season with an All-American nod after coming off her WHAC Championship a couple weeks ago. The South Africa native ran a 21:45 6k, finishing in 22
nd place in a field of 331 runners. As a top 40 runner, she would earn NAIA All-American honors and is just the fifth women's cross country at Tech to earn that honor.
Sarah Koker would finish in 243
rd with a time of 24:22 in her second straight appearance at the NAIA National Championships.
For the men, three Warriors would make their national meet debuts, with
Juan Caballero making his second straight appearance.
Giulio Romano would lead the group, finishing in 107
th place after running a 26:00 in the 8k race. Caballero would be the next Warrior to cross the finish line at 26:13 for 143
rd place.
Kobee Beck would follow with a time of 26:50 and 221
st place finish, while
Ayub Sayid would not finish the race but was in 142
nd place at the 6k mark with a time of 19:32.
The cross country season comes to a close as the Warriors will now turn their attention to the track with the indoor season set to begin next month!
