ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech Women's Cross Country team made another trip up to Michigan for the WHAC Championships on Friday afternoon, where
Bronwyn Nel led the Warriors to a third place team finish in a dominant individual performance.
Bronwyn Nel became just the third Indiana Tech runner to win the WHAC Championship on Friday, while also breaking her own school 6k record with a remarkable time of 21:09. The freshman has steadily improved over the season and delivered an impressive performance when it mattered most. She would claim WHAC Runner of the Year honors, as well as WHAC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors after her big win.
Sarah Koker was next up for the Warriors, finishing 13
th with a time of 22:33, earning her a spot on the WHAC Second Team All-Conference.
Karla Julian would finish just outside the top 20 with a time of 23:21, while
Makella Sweeney ran 25:13 and
Chantelle Peter ran 26:52. Six of Tech's eight runners would run to PR's in the race as the Warriors would finish in third place overall as a team.
In addition to the all-conference teams, the WHAC would also announce the rest of the conference awards at the end of the meet.
Karla Julian would represent Indiana Tech on the Champion of Character Team, which is comprised of one player from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. Indiana Tech also had four Warriors named to the All-Academic Team, which consists of sophomores or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA or better who have attended their school for one full year.
