FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University's No. 17-ranked Warriors came into the weekend riding high—having just swept the Michigan‑Dearborn Wolverines, including an overtime victory at home last week. With that momentum and their top-20 status secured, Indiana Tech entered this match up full of confidence.
The Indiana Tech Men's hockey team delivered an all-around strong performance on Friday night, skating past Lawrence University with a commanding 5–1 victory. Indiana Tech struck first midway through the opening period when Ryan Doucette found the back of the net at 6:34, assisted by Mason Bazaluk, giving the Warriors an early 1–0 lead they would never hand over.
The offense stayed hot in the second frame, Malik Ali extended the lead early with help from Doucette and Isaiah Gagerman, putting the Warriors up 2–0. Lawrence would momentarily close the gap with a goal at 4:08, but Indiana Tech responded quickly and decisively. Joey Mocnik, set up beautifully by Zane Myler, restored the two-goal cushion just over a minute later to make it 3–1.
The Warriors carried that momentum into the final frame, where Ian Vannelli capitalized on a setup from Ali and Bazaluk at 5:55, pushing the score to 4–1. Michael Dalaly sealed the deal in the closing minutes with a late tally off an assist from Mocnik at 18:58, capping off a complete team effort.
Indiana Tech battled Lawrence Tech again on Saturday, November 8, in a tightly contested match up that went to a shootout. The Warriors jumped out to a 2–0 lead in the first period with goals from Malik Ali and Joseph Mocnik, assisted by Zane Myler, Bobby Hathcock, and Luke Anderson.
Lawrence Tech responded in the second and third periods, scoring on a power play to force overtime. Neither team scored in the extra period, sending the contest to a shootout. In the shootout, Indiana Tech came up short, failing to convert, while the Blue Devils scored the lone goal for Lawrence Tech to secure the 3–2 victory.The Warriors outshot the Blue Devils 23–34 and went 0-for-2 on the power play, showing strong effort despite the narrow loss. Goalie Reimer made 31 saves on 34 shots, keeping Indiana Tech in the contest until the very end.
The Warriors will take advantage of a much-needed bye week to recover, refocus, and prepare for their next challenge. Indiana Tech returns to the ice on Friday, November 21, when they travel to face Hope College in what promises to be another competitive match up.
