Lyyski's 24 Points Paces Warriors Past Cougars

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team was back in action as they welcomed Cleary University to Fort Wayne on Saturday afternoon for a conference showdown. After a quick start, the Warriors rolled to an 84-63 victory.
 
The opening twenty minutes was a game of runs as the Warriors opened the game on a 21-2 run which spanned the first seven minutes. After the hot start, Tech's offense went cold, going over five minutes without a field goal which allowed the visitors to cut the lead to three. Tech answered with a short run of their own which saw them take a 39-30 lead into the locker room. Out of the break, the Warriors opened the half on a 10-0 run during the opening four minutes, stretching their lead to a 19-point margin. Tech continued to control the second half, stretching their lead to their largest of the night, 29, off a lay-in from Lucas Lyyski at the 6:03 mark, before settling for an 84-63 win.
 
The Warriors were led by Lucas Lyyski who tallied 24 points, seven rebounds, and two assists off the bench. Crew Gibson posted 16 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Blake Davison added 12 points, one rebound, and two steals. Jaxson Fugate recorded 12 points, three rebounds, and one block.
 
The Warriors are now 17-5 on the season while sitting at 14-1 in conference play. The Orange and Black are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to the University of Michigan-Dearborn for an 8:00 p.m. tip.
