Warriors Tournament Run Ends in NAIA First Round

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team was in Glendale, Arizona on Friday evening for the first round of the NAIA National Tournament, hosted by Arizona Christian University. Tech matched up against the Oregon Tech Owls, and after a tough battle, fell to the Owls 78-87.

The opening nine minutes of the contest was an even-fought battle, as the two sides were level at 18 with 11 minutes to go in the first half. The two sides traded buckets, but still, there was nothing to separate the teams as the score was knotted again at 23 with 7:40 on the clock. From there, the momentum shifted toward the Owls as the Warriors' offense went cold, resulting in a 12-2 run from Oregon Tech, putting them up by 10 with 3:37 to go in the half. Tech battled through the final three minutes and cut the Owls lead down to six, 33-39, heading into the break. Tech found the bucket first in the second half, cutting the lead to four, but a 6-0 response from Oregon Tech stretched their lead back to double digits. Tech refused to go down easily though, fighting back to level the score on two separate occasions, the last being with 10:41 left. Down the stretch, the Owls always had a response to every push from the Warriors and never let the Orange and Black grab the lead as they held on to knock the Warriors out of the tournament with an 87-78 final score.

Crew Gibson led all scorers with 25 points, adding nine rebounds and four assists. Blake Davison, Brady Titus, and Dallas Roberts all added 10 points. Davison grabbed eight rebounds and had two assists. Titus corralled three boards and dished out two assists and Roberts added one assist.

Tech's tournament run ends after just one game this year, ending with a final record of 23-8. Tech finished the conference season 18-2 and claimed the WHAC Regular Season Title, their third of the last four years.
