ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team wrapped up their spring break trip to Missouri on Thursday evening with a contest against the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP). In a tough battle, the Orange and Black were dealt a 1-3 loss, 17-25, 25-23, 17-25, and 20-25.
The opening set was a tight contest with UHSP holding a lead through the opening stages, but the Warriors stayed within striking distance, as a 4-0 run from the Orange and Black cut the lead to a 16-18 deficit. From there the hosts would go on a 7-1 run to close the set 25-17. Set two played out similarly to the first as the hosts held a lead through the set, until down 18-23, the Warriors would rattle off seven straight points to steal the set 25-23 and level the match. Again, in set three Tech kept it close, but like the first set, the hosts would go on a run in the final stages of the set, this time 8-2 to claim it 25-17. In the fourth set, the Warriors were right there again within striking distance, trailing 18-19 late, but the hosts were able to hold off the Warriors' comeback effort to claim the set 25-20 and seal the match.
Logan Gieseke led the Warriors' attack with 16 kills, followed by
Kristian Kold with seven. Kold also served the Warriors' lone ace of the contest.
Logan Gamero led the defense at the net with seven blocks, while
Alex Rosenow led the back line with 13 digs.
