Men’s Lax Outlasts Statesmen in Top Ten Fight

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #4 Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team hosted #7 William Penn University (Iowa) on Friday night in their final game before conference play begins next weekend. The heavyweight top ten battle would come down to the wire as the Warriors would outlast the Statesmen in the end, winning 14-12.

William Penn would score the first goal of the game, but Josh Bramley would score just over a minute later to knot it at one. The two sides would trade goals until the Warriors closed the first quarter with a three-goal run to make it 5-3. The second quarter would go similar to the first as both sides battled to gain an edge. Both teams would score four times in the quarter as Tech led 9-7 at halftime. The Statesmen would again open the scoring in the third quarter to cut the deficit to one, but Tech would answer just ten seconds later through Devin Macomber to push the lead back to two. However, the Statesmen would win the quarter 4-3, making the score 12-11 in favor of Indiana Tech, setting up an exciting fourth quarter. Macomber would score at the 11-minute mark to give the Warriors a two goal cushion, but with just under six minutes to play William Penn would score to make it a one goal game once again. The Warriors defense would lock in to preserve the lead, not allowing another goal and Ryan Tedesco would score the dagger goal with 57 seconds remaining to ice the game as Tech would outlast William Penn 14-12 in a thrilling top ten matchup. Macomber (5 G, 1 A) and Tedesco (1 G, 5 A) would each pick up six points in the game, while Bramley would finish with a hattrick and one assist. Jake Deacon and Carter Krizmanich would each pick up five ground balls for the Warriors, while Deacon, Simon Watson, and Cam Fewster would all cause two turnovers. Kyle TwoBulls would make 14 saves in goal for the Warriors, while also causing one turnover, grabbing three ground balls, and picking up the win. 

The Warriors will open WHAC play in their next contest when the play No. 10 Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday, March 29th at 7pm at Warrior Athletic Field.
