FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team was back in action on Saturday afternoon looking for a bounce-back win against the Siena Heights Saints in the Schaefer Center. Like their first season meeting, the Warriors came out on top 3-0, 25-18, 26-24, and 25-20.
The opening set was an even battle with Tech holding a narrow lead through the early exchange. Tech established substantial separation with a six-point burst while leading 14-13 which saw them grab a seven-point lead. Once established, the lead was too much for the Saints to come back from as Tech took the opener 25-18. Set two favored the Saints as the two sides settled in, but while trailing 10-14 a 4-0 run from the Orange and Black leveled the score. Shortly after their first run, Tech went on another 4-0 run, this time resulting in a 21-19 lead. The visitors responded, leveling the score at 24, but back-to-back kills from
Logan Gamero and
Max Veneman gave Tech the set, 26-24. Tech opened the third set with a 6-2 lead, but it was short-lived as the Saints rattled off four straight points to level the score at six. Midway through the set, Tech strung together three points to retake the lead they had lost, 12-10. The Saints kept things close, but Tech finally pulled away in the later stages of the set with a 4-0 run which led them to a 25-20 win to claim the match.
Dylan Poore led the Warriors with 14 kills, followed by
Kristian Kold with eight.
Jacob Carrico posted a team-high four aces, while
Daniel Mitsin and
Ben Rosenow added two.
Logan Gieseke tallied four blocks, followed by
