Men's Volleyball Sweeps Pilots for Second Time this Season

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team swept Bethel University on Tuesday evening in straight sets, making it the second time the Warriors would sweep the Pilots this season.

The first set would go back and forth up until the very end. Bethel would take a 21-19 lead before the Warriors rattled off six of the next eight points to take set one 25-23. In set two, the Warriors would trail for most of the first half of the set until going on a 4-0 run to take a 14-11 lead. Tech would continue to stay in front by a few points until a 4-1 run by Bethel cut the Warrior lead to just one at 20-19. However, the Warriors would again close out the set strong with five of the final six points to take set two 25-20. The Pilots would get off to another strong start in the third set, opening up a 4-1 lead. The Warriors would grow stronger as the match carried on, building an 18-13 lead. The Pilots would close the gap to make it 17-19, but the comeback attempt would fall short as the Warriors would prevail and win set three 25-19 and finish off the match with a 3-0 win. Logan Gieseke would lead the Warriors in kills with 15, followed by Kristian Kold with 11. Daniel Mitsin would pick up 33 assists, while Logan Gamero would make three blocks. Jacob Carrico would lead Tech with eight digs, while the Warriors would finish with five aces in the match all by different players.

The Warriors move above .500 on the season with the win, improving to 10-9 overall and 9-2 in WHAC play. Tech will be back in action at 7pm on Friday, March 28th when they host Aquinas College on senior night.
