Warriors Sweep Rochester Christian on the Road

TROY, Mich. – The Indiana Tech baseball team was back in action on Sunday afternoon, taking on Rochester Christian University in Troy, Michigan. Meeting with the Rochester Warriors for the second time in seven days, the Orange and Black again won both ends of the doubleheader, this time with scores of 4-2 and 11-4.

The opener was a pitcher's battle with little scoring early. Tech opened the game with one run in the second but was held scoreless until the fifth when they tallied another run. Rochester tallied their runs in the fourth and the sixth, leveling the score. Tech plated two runs in the top of the ninth to retake the lead. Colton Leatherman kept the Rochester offense at bay in the bottom half of the inning to seal the 4-2 victory and earn the win on the mound. Leatherman threw three innings on the mound, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out four of the 11 batters he faced. Grant Besser was the game-one starter, throwing six innings. He allowed two runs on six hits and stuck out 12. Jordan Malott, Luke Huerta, and Noah McEldowney recorded two hits in the contest, while McEldowney led the side with two RBIs.

In game two, the hosts got on the board first, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning to grab the lead. Tech was held scoreless through the first two innings, but the offense came to life in the third with seven runs. The Warriors added three more in the top half of the fourth and one more in the fifth, taking an 11-1 lead. Rochester Christian took three back in the sixth, but Tech came out on top 11-4. Ben Morrison led the team in hits, going three for five while Jordan Malott, Brycen Hannah, and Luke Huerta added two hits each. Hannah, Logan Rybarczyk, and Jack Ferguson each tallied two RBIs. Noah Redmon earned the win on the mound for the Warriors throwing four innings. He allowed one run off two hits during his time on the bump, striking out six of the 14 batters he faced.
