FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team returned to action on Thursday evening, hosting Mount Vernon Nazarene University after a five-game road stretch. In their return to Schaefer, the Orange and Black dominated, downing the Cougars in straight sets, 25-21, 25-17, and 25-21.
In the opening set, the Orange and Black quickly found themselves in a hole as the visitors jumped to an 8-3 lead. The Warriors responded with a 4-1 run to cut the lead down to two points but were unable to close the gap completely. That was until an 8-3 run later in the set leveled the sides at 19. The Cougars answered, grabbing a two-point lead, but Tech ended the set on a 6-0 run to take it 25-21. The second set was even through the opening stages, but with the score knotted at nine, the Warriors would tally six straight points to grab a 15-9 lead. The six-point burst was all Tech needed as it gave them control through the remainder of the set, closing it with a 25-17 win. Set three was similar to the first, as the Warriors found themselves trailing 16-10 early. From there, an 8-2 run saw the Warriors draw level at 18. After trading a few points with the Cougars, Tech closed the set on a 5-1 run, claiming the match with a 25-21 victory.
The Warriors were led by
Ben Rosenow with 13 kills. Rosenow, Nolan Bosely, and
Jensen Yarosh each added a service ace.
Zack Karns posted four blocks. Bosely led the side with 32 assists.
Jacob Carrico had 10 digs.
The Warriors move to 7-6 on the season and sit with a 6-1 record in the WHAC. Up next, the Warriors hit the road for the first of a two-game road stretch, traveling to St. Louis, Missouri for a contest with the No. 4 ranked Spartans of Missouri Baptist on March 12. The first serve with the Spartans is set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
