ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team opened their spring break trip to Missouri with a defeat against the No. 4 ranked Missouri Baptist Spartans as the Orange and Black take a break from conference play. Despite a promising start from the Warriors, the Spartans showed why they're ranked fourth in the land, taking the match in straight sets.
The first set showed potential for Indiana Tech as they took an early 9-4 lead, but Missouri Baptist closed the gap and finished the set 25-22. The subsequent sets were also tough battles, but the hosts always maintained a slight edge closing the second set 25-21 and the third 25-17.
Indiana Tech's effort was highlighted by notable performances from
Dylan Poore, who led the team with 8 kills, followed by
Kristian Kold with 6, and
Logan Gieseke with 5. In terms of defense,
Zack Karns and
Logan Gamero contributed 2 blocks, while
Dylan Poore added one.
Jacob Carrico and
Ben Rosenow each made 7 digs, showcasing their defensive skills.
Raider Paja led the side with 14 assists, followed by
Daniel Mitsin with 8.
With this result, Indiana Tech's season record now stands at an even 7-7, maintaining their conference record of 6-1. The Warriors have a quick turnaround as they take on UHSP on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. CST.
