FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #9 Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team hosted RV Ottawa University (Kan.) on Saturday afternoon in nonconference action in a game that saw the Warriors score 20 goals in a rout over the Braves.
Noelle Ricci would get the goals started for the Warriors early in the first on the powerplay with
Sophia Jermstad and
Da'zah Regusters scoring shortly after to give Tech a 3-0 lead. After two Ottawa goals,
Michelle Farrell, Ricci, and
Brook Maul would each score to give the Warriors a 6-2 lead after one quarter of play. Ricci would open the second quarter with a goal, completing her hattrick before Farrell scored four straight goals as Tech took a commanding lead. Tech would enter halftime ahead 12-3. The Braves would get on the board in the opening minute of the second half, but the Warriors defense would shut them down after that, not allowing a goal over the final 29 minutes of the game. The Orange & Black would add four goals in both the third and fourth quarters to rout the Braves by a final of 20-4 in a game they dominated from start to finish.
Michelle Farrell tied her career high with eight goals against the Braves as she finished with 11 total points, six draw controls, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers in an all-around performance.
Noelle Ricci would finish with six points on three goals and three assists, marking new career highs in all three categories. Regusters would lead the defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls, while
Gabby Hitchcock and
Lauren Hainlin would both scoop up four ground balls.
Kat Hoff played the full 60 minutes in goal for the Warriors, making 15 saves in the win.
The Warriors improve to 3-2 on the season and will now prepare for conference play as they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan to play Aquinas College on Saturday, March 15th at 1pm.
